About Community Involvement

Sustainability

At Dirt Pros, we do our part to deliver services and products that help reduce our consumption of energy and natural resources while providing a clean, safe, and healthy built environment.  But that’s not all.  We try to live and work with a conscious effort to support sustainable practices that minimize our day to day impact on our environment.

Viewing our responsibilities in this type of holistic manner, we consider our priorities for safety, quality, and costs, as well as our ethical, environmental, and economic responsibilities collectively. As we make purchasing decisions and evaluate internal as well as supplier performance – sustainability becomes ingrained in the cultural fabric of the entire Dirt Pros EVS Organization.

We believe that being green is not a marketing campaign or slogan, but it is a concept infused into the fabric and culture of our organization.  A way of life and business.

For us, it’s not just about using Environmentally Safe Chemicals; but it’s about eliminating wasteful practices altogether.

Here’s how we try to “walk the walk” in our own daily lives:

Workspace:

We believe in using less paper, and we make every attempt to do our work digitally.  However, we do have to use paper and cardboard in the course of performing our duties so we are sure to recycle and reuse everything that we can.

We use 55% less office space than similar companies our size.  How?  We don’t have private offices or numerous cubicles.  On the contrary – we sit in the same room in desk clusters.  This allows us to keep open the lines of communication with one another, improves day lighting, reduces electricity usage, and contributes toward our ability to function as a cohesive unit.

Transportation:

We have a goal to reach the point where 80% of our employees will take public transportation, walk, or bike to work.  We collectively award positions to employees and applicants who live within 3 miles of their jobsite, and have plans to position our corporate headquarters near public transportation axis points to make this goal possible.  Our entire executive management team drives company issued hybrid vehicles and we carpool and vanpool as needed to maximize the economic, environmental, and social benefits of reduced automobile dependence through community-based car sharing.

Packaging:

We are actively searching for products that are packaged with form fitting, recyclable materials with just enough material to protect the product for shipping.  This will help us use less natural materials and reduce environmental impacts from shipping.

And the best part is that these initiatives are just the beginning…
